Kukui nut Oil is a semi-clear to light yellow oil that is cold pressed from seeds of the Aleurites moluccans tree, often referred to as the Candlenut tree. The State Tree of Hawaii, it also grows in other areas of Polynesia. Kukui nut oil has been traditionally used by Pacific Islanders for centuries for its various benefits. The oil is extracted from the nuts by cold-pressing, which helps retain its natural properties and nutrients.
Kukui seeds have traditionally been used for a variety of purposes. Seeds themselves were often strung and lit on fire to use as torches, and oil pressed from the seeds was used in lamps.
Kukui Nut Oil is easily absorbed by the deepest layers of the skin, and forms a protective barrier on the skin that protects against environmental damage. It locks in moisture levels by forming a physical barrier to water loss, preventing further dryness and dehydration. Kukui (Candlenut) Oil is used as skin lightener for pregnancy mask and to reduce the appearance of burn scars. It is known that this Hawaiian oil works at the cellular level to help reduce skin redness and inflammation, help skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dry and chapped skin. Aleurites moluccanus Seed Oil also boosts collagen production and promotes the sloughing of dead skin cells to create space for new cells.
Because Kukuinut Oil is lightweight, it's also a great option for those with finer hair. And while its deeply moisturising for the scalp and can help ease flaking, Kukui Oil won't clog pores or make hair look flat or greasy.
