Green tea extract made from evergreen leaves of a small Asian tree that is cultivated in different regions. Green Tea Extract is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis tea botanical. While several other types of tea are also derived from the same plant – Black, White, and Oolong, to name a few – Green Tea is known to be the least processed among the group and to thus retain more of its valuable, healthful properties.
Undeveloped leaves are harvested manually, steamed to prevent fermentation, and then pressed and dried. Contains 5% of extract dissolved in water & glycerin (50/50).
The production of green tea powder involves carefully selecting and shading the tea plants for several weeks before harvest. This shading process promotes the growth of tender young leaves that have a vibrant green color and increased levels of certain compounds, such as chlorophyll and amino acids.
After harvesting, the leaves are steamed, dried, and ground into a fine powder using stone mills. The result is a bright green powder with a rich, grassy aroma and a slightly bitter, vegetal flavor.
Used cosmetically, Green Tea Extract helps diminish the signs of aging, calms irritation, evens out discoloration, diminishes the appearance of cellulite, soothes redness and swelling, repairs damage, exfoliates, decreases the appearance and occurrence of blackheads, eliminates dead skin, dirt, bacteria, and other pollutants on the skin’s surface, decreases puffiness, and reduces the appearance of dark circles.
