BTMS-50 is 50% active Behenyl (C22) quaternary conditioning agent and cationic emulsifier provided in pastille form.
BTMS-50, or Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetyl Alcohol (and) Butylene Glycol, is a conditioning emulsifier commonly utilised in the formulation of hair care and skincare products. It shares similarities with BTMS-25, with the additional component of cetyl alcohol and butylene glycol.
The inclusion of butylene glycol enhances the product's emollient and thickening properties, contributing to a luxurious and creamy texture in formulations. Butylene glycol acts as a co-emulsifier and humectant, helping to attract and retain moisture, which is particularly beneficial for skin and hair hydration. These combined characteristics make BTMS-50 an excellent choice for creating rich and moisturising formulations, such as hair conditioners, masks, and body creams.
Benefits:
Excellent Conditioning: BTMS-50 imparts excellent conditioning properties, making it highly effective in hair care products such as conditioners and masks. It helps to detangle hair, reduce frizz, and improve overall manageability.
Emulsification: As an emulsifier, BTMS-50 is adept at creating stable oil-in-water emulsions. This makes it suitable for formulating creams, lotions, and other emulsion-based skincare products.
Softening and Smoothing: The cetyl alcohol component in BTMS-50 contributes to a soft and smooth feel when applied to the skin or hair, enhancing the sensory experience of the formulated product.
Moisturisation: Butylene Glycol, a component in BTMS-50, acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture. This property makes it beneficial for skincare formulations designed to provide hydration and prevent dryness.
Compatibility: BTMS-50 is compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients, allowing formulators flexibility in creating diverse products for various skin and hair types.
Uses:
Hair Conditioners: BTMS-50 is a key ingredient in hair conditioners, providing the necessary emulsification and conditioning effects to improve the texture and appearance of the hair.
Hair Masks: It is commonly used in intensive hair treatment products such as masks, helping to deeply condition and nourish the hair.
Body Creams and Lotions: The emollient properties of BTMS-50 make it suitable for use in body creams and lotions, contributing to a smooth and moisturized skin feel.
Leave-In Hair Products: Formulations like leave-in conditioners and styling products benefit from BTMS-50's conditioning and emulsifying capabilities.
Skincare Products: BTMS-50 is utilized in a variety of skincare products, including facial creams, moisturizers, and body lotions, where its emulsification and moisturizing properties are valuable.
