Our Australian Sweet Almond Oil is refined from the nuts of the Prunus Dulcis (Prunus Amygdalus) tree. It contains an impressive catalogue of linoleic and oleic acids, as well as being rich in tocopherols (Vitamin E) and Vitamin A, as well as valuable fatty acids, beta-sitosterol and squalene.
A light, non-greasy carrier oil that's easily absorbed by the skin and yields a light yellow colour.
Virgin and refined almond oils are extracted through the same method – cold pressing. However, a refined oil is purified through filtration or distillation. For this reason, it is more resistant to heating; it’s been deprived of its natural colour and scent and is recommended for allergic and sensitive skin care. Refined oils are often less susceptible to oxidative damage.
Key benefits of Almond Oil:
Rich in nutrients: Almond oil is packed with vitamins A, B, and E, as well as minerals like zinc, calcium, and magnesium. These nutrients help nourish the skin, promote hair growth, and improve overall health.
Moisturising: Almond oil is an excellent moisturiser that helps hydrate the skin and hair. It is easily absorbed into the skin, leaving it soft and supple.
Anti-inflammatory: Almond oil has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce inflammation and redness on the skin. It is especially helpful for people with dry, itchy, or irritated skin.
Anti-aging: Almond oil contains antioxidants that help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This, in turn, helps prevent premature aging of the skin.
Hair growth: Almond oil is rich in nutrients that help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. It nourishes the hair follicles and strengthens the hair from the roots.
Mild and hypoallergenic: Almond oil is gentle and hypoallergenic, making it suitable for people with sensitive skin. It is also non-comedogenic, which means it does not clog pores and cause acne.
Almond oil is insoluble in water and alchohol, but soluble in other oils. It should be added to the formula as is, in the fat phase of the formulation, and can be used at 1-100%, as it can be used neat in massage oils.
