Rice starch, derived from rice grains, is a multifunctional ingredient widely utilised in the cosmetics industry. One of its key roles is as an absorbent, making it a popular choice in cosmetics designed for oily or combination skin. In products like powders, foundations, and mattifying creams, rice starch helps to control excess oil and reduce shine on the skin's surface, providing a smooth and matte finish. Its lightweight texture makes it particularly suitable for formulations that aim to offer a natural and breathable appearance without clogging pores.
Apart from its oil-absorbing properties, rice starch is valued for its soothing and anti-inflammatory characteristics. In skincare products, such as creams and lotions, rice starch can help calm and comfort the skin, making it suitable for formulations targeted at sensitive or irritated skin.
Its gentle nature makes it well-tolerated by a wide range of skin types. Furthermore, rice starch is known for its ability to contribute to the overall texture and feel of cosmetic products, enhancing their silkiness and providing a pleasant sensory experience for users.
