Alpha Arbutin is a bio-synthetic, cosmeceutical skin care ingredients derived from bearberry leaves, pear or cranberry. Alpha arbutin is a popular ingredient used in cosmetics and skincare products for its skin-brightening and lightening properties. It is a naturally occurring compound derived from bearberry plants, and it works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called tyrosinase, which is responsible for the production of melanin in the skin.

When applied topically, alpha arbutin can help to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other dark spots on the skin. It is also effective in improving overall skin tone and texture, giving the skin a more even and radiant look.

Alpha arbutin is considered a safe and effective ingredient in skincare products, and it is often used in combination with other skin-brightening agents such as vitamin C and niacinamide for even greater results.

Arbutin is a cosmeceutical ingredient that inhibits the production of melanin by being a tyrosinane blocker. Tyrosinane is an enzyme that, when put together with light and melanin in melanocytes, causes the formation of freckels and other pigmentation. Without tyrosinane, the pigment cannot form.

Alpha arbutin is a slow release active -meaning it is a more suitable skin-lightener for sensitive skin and is less irritating for other skin types. It also has no know contraindications, and can therefore be used with many other ingredients and products.

Products containing alpha-arbutin can be used twice per day and for best results, use for continuously for 2-3 months.

Alpha Arbutin is water soluble, and should be formulated in the pH range 3.5-6.5.

Recommended concentration is 0.2-2% and should be added to the water phase of the formulation. heat can redusce the effectiveness of arbutin, so be sure not to overheat your formulation, or add in the cool-down phase.
