Shower Steamers

Shower Steamers

Shower Cubes are like a bath bomb but for your shower. Shower cubes are activated by the spray of water droplets in your shower to create a calming cloud of steam filled with your favourite scents. Just place a tablet on your shower floor (but not directly under the shower's stream) and enjoy.

One tablet lasts from 8-15 minutes depending how close or far from the water stream. This formulation is loaded with menthol and perfect for stuffy heads or colds.  Use a mixture of essential oils for aromatherapeutic benefits.

One Shower Cube is approximately 50g depending on the size of your mold.

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Silicone mold (cubical or any desired shape)
  • Spray bottle filled with water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Ensure your workspace is clean and dry before you begin. This will help maintain the quality and cleanliness of your shower cubes.

  2. Weigh and Measure Ingredients: Accurately measure each ingredient using the specified amounts listed above. Precise measurements are essential for a successful shower cube.

  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch. Use a whisk to thoroughly mix these dry ingredients. This dry mixture will be the base of your shower cubes.

  4. Add Essential Oils: Carefully add 20-30 drops of your chosen essential oils to the dry mixture. You can use a single essential oil or create a unique blend of scents. Stir the essential oils into the dry mixture to distribute the fragrance evenly. Adjust the number of drops to achieve your desired scent strength.

  5. Add Food Colouring (Optional): If you want to give your shower cubes a pop of color, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture. This step is entirely optional and can be omitted if you prefer colorless cubes.

  6. Spritz with Water: Using a spray bottle filled with water, lightly spritz the dry mixture while stirring continuously. Add a small amount of water at a time, and be cautious not to add too much, as it can cause premature fizzing. The mixture is ready when it can hold its shape when squeezed in your hand but is not overly wet.

  7. Mold the Cubes: Firmly pack the mixture into silicone molds of your desired shape. Press it down to ensure the cubes are compact and will hold together. You can use cube-shaped molds or any other fun shapes you like.

  8. Dry and Harden: Allow the shower cubes to dry and harden for at least 24 hours. They should be firm and hold their shape when removed from the molds.

  9. Remove from Molds: Gently pop the shower cubes out of the silicone molds. Be careful not to break them during this process.

  10. Store in an Airtight Container: Once removed, store your shower cubes in an airtight container to preserve their fragrance and prevent moisture from affecting their quality.

To Use:

Place one shower cube on the floor of your shower before or during your shower. As water contacts the cube, it will begin to fizz and release the aromatic essential oils, creating a fragrant and invigorating shower experience.

Enjoy your homemade aromatherapy shower cubes!
